Public Service
The City of Winchester Sheriff’s Office provides the highest levels of professional, effective and efficient services to the public, and is firmly committed to the principles of community involvement, through problem solving partnerships, state of the art security equipment, law enforcement equipment and techniques.
Our Mission
The City of Winchester Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with elected leaders, staff and citizens, as part of public safety, will provide security at the Joint Judicial Center, serve all court process, provide timely transport for prisoners and patients, and uphold the principles and values embodied in the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Our primary responsibility is securing the Joint Judicial Center and serving civil process. The Sheriff's Office holds concurrent law enforcement jurisdiction with local police departments and stands ready to assist the police in their primary duties whenever and wherever needed.
Community Relations
The Winchester City Sheriff's Office and it's employees take great pride in being proavtive in the community. The Office provides service to the community in the form of public safety day, food drives, reading to children, and volunteers time to numerous community outreach programs.
Civil Enforcement
The Winchester City Sheriff's Office primary functions is to provide civil process service to the citizens of Winchester along with Joint Judicial Center security. The proffesional staff at the office is always available to answer any questions you may have or services you may need rendered.
Jury Duty
The Winchester City Sheriff's Office provides juriors of their initial notification as being selected as a jury member. The office also provides updates on pending jury schedules. The Sheriff's Office is not in a position to excuse jury members from service nor grant an absence.
